Many of the schools in rural Alabama are in disrepair due to under funding. The Sunshine School project focused on empowering students to improve their environment. Problems were identified through photographs taken by the students. They prioritized repairs, came up with solutions, chose the colors of paint, replaced windows, designed murals, and demolished derelict structures.
