Join us for a two-day celebration of West Alabama! Friday, April 24 – Saturday, April 25, 2026
Wondering what is Pig Roast? This special two-day, annual end-of-academic year event is a celebration and showcase of the work completed by 3rd-year students and 5th-year students, with friends, family, and clients all attending. On Friday afternoon, we celebrate the completion of a new home designed and built by one of our 5th-year student teams for our neighbor, Loretta. Then dinner and music at Horseshoe Courtyard in Greensboro sets up the evening of alumni lectures under the stars. We typically invite 8-10 alumni to give short-lecture format talks, called PechaKucha talks. Each person is allowed to show only 20 slides, and each slides set on a timer for 20 seconds. It’s a fast and fun way to hear from a lot of folks in a short amount of time. Don’t miss seeing what our alumni get in to after leaving!
On Saturday, visitors follow a car convoy to building sites across Hale County where students present their projects and introduce the community partners and clients. Everyone is welcome to join lunch at Morrisette House. The events of the long day finish with an outdoor public catfish and pork dinner, followed by live music and a graduation ceremony for the 5th-years, all washed down with a fireworks display.
Friday, April 24 at 3:00 p.m. Meet us at Morrisette House (8448 AL HWY 61, Newbern) to caravan to the CLT Core House ribbon cutting. Afterwards, follow us to Horseshoe Courtyard (1202 Main Street, Greensboro) for dinner and music. A fun, short lecture format, PechaKucha-style, Alumni Lectures will follow. We’ve invited 10 alumni back to share with us what they’ve been up since leaving Hale County.
Saturday, April 25 at 8:30 a.m., the tour of current projects begins at Morrisette House in Newbern. Lunch and dinner provided at Morrisette House. 5:00 p.m. Evening activities include: Pig Roast & Fish Fry Dinner, Valediction Ceremony, and Live Music Extravaganza at the Bodark Amphitheatre in Newbern.
